Holiday party at Hollywood Club

Our company is having our holiday party at Ivar. I'm not one for going to the club scene, so I am wondering what I should wear for this sort of event since it is a club and a Holiday party. I'm open to suggestions, pants or dress/skirt. The only thing is that I want a top that has 3/4 length sleeves because I don't like wearing short sleeve tops.
What you suggest for a guy? He doesn't have a lot of dressy clothes because he works in construction, but he does have a black suit and a blue shirt he usually looks great in, would that be too dressy (the shirt and suit pants?) What would he look good in

I was super tomboyish forever, always with the jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. then I got a job where it was important that I look nice. I accidentally went to macy's juniors department and struck gold. There's a lot of random stupid clothes, but if you look only for what you need, you can find awesome stuff.
I got two black 50's-styled sheath dresses, a black 3/4 sleeve cardigan, a pair of black trousers, a black pencil skirt, and three blouses in jewel tones because that's what compliments my coloring. For shoes I went to steve madden and got a pair of low-heeled leopard pumps. I also got a black frame bag from a street vendor that looked nice

Here are a list of "Fashion Faux-pas" outfits I see on a regular basis in the Finance District I think don't belong:
1. Sweatpants (unless your going to use the gym, don't wear them to the office).
2. shiney plastic mini-jackets in irradesent colours.
3. white running shoes and formal skirt/blazer outfit.
4. Turtle necks on men. Turtle necks are made for outdoors. They are ment to be worn under many layers, not as a single shirt.
5. Long sleeve dress shirt, and shorts. (more emphasis towards men.
6. too many stripes that don't work together

You don't need 2 suitcases.

One dress for the wedding.
Flat sandals to go with dress (no heels on sand!).
One lightweight cardigan/shawl to go with dress.
Another pair of sandals or flipflops.
2 pairs of shorts.
One skirt (neutral color) or 2 casual sundresses.
3-4 tank tops.
2-3 T shirts.
2 bathing suits.
One beach coverup.
8 of whatever underwear.
2-3 pairs of socks.
Whatever you sleep in.
A floppy beach hat.
Wear on the plane:
Sneakers/lightweight hiking boots
