The greatest thing to happen in the early 60s was The British Invasion. The Beatles changed the music world and also brought a new fashion sense to the US. Men started growing their hair and wearing strange clothes like our men's 60s British Invasion costumes. I just got an advertisement from Blue Cross and the female model is wearing those HORRID black rimmed spike edged glasses I carried around on my wedding day in the 60s! Couldn't see a thing but they just didn't go with a white lace gown so I only put them on when the photographer wasn't taking pictures.
It seems there hasn't been a really flattering "style" for many years. Everything is so plain, or baggy, or too fitted for those of us who somehow outgrew our 20 something bodies awhile back. I won't wear synthetics, feel like I have on plastic clothes. I often buy men's knit shirts because they are longer and looser
